Pinterest Stories and other multi-slide content can pack several cards β€” photos, video clips, or a mix of both β€” into a single Pin, which makes saving them a little different from downloading a single-image Pin.

If the current PinSave Pinterest Story Downloader supports the Story format you're looking at, you can paste that Story's link into the tool and it will check the Pin for the media it can retrieve.

What Is a Pinterest Story?

A Pinterest Story is multi-slide Pin content made up of several cards rather than a single photo or video. You may also see this type of content referred to as a Story Pin or Idea Pin, since Pinterest's own naming has shifted over time β€” but the underlying idea is the same: multiple slides grouped under one Pin, meant to be viewed in sequence.

Each card in a Story can hold different media, and a Story doesn't necessarily behave like a single-format Pin. That's the main reason downloading one works a little differently than saving a plain photo or video Pin.

Can You Download Pinterest Stories?

Supported, publicly accessible Pinterest Story content can be downloaded when PinSave is able to retrieve the media attached to it.

That said, not every Story behaves identically. Whether a specific Story can be downloaded β€” and what you get back β€” depends on:

  • the specific Story and the media attached to it

  • whether the Story is publicly accessible

  • what media is actually available for that Pin

  • whether the content is still available on Pinterest

There's no universal guarantee here. A Story that downloads cleanly today may behave differently from another Story with a different mix of cards.

How to Download a Pinterest Story

1. Open the Pinterest Story

Open the specific Story or multi-slide Pin you want to save so it's the exact content on your screen, not a board or profile page.

2. Copy the Story link

Use Pinterest's Share β†’ Copy link option. PinSave also supports Pinterest's shortened pin.it links, so you can paste a copied short link directly without expanding it first.

3. Open PinSave's Pinterest Story Downloader

Go to the Pinterest Story Downloader in your browser.

4. Paste the Story link

Paste the copied URL into the input field.

5. Download the available Story content

PinSave checks the link and shows the media it was able to identify for that Story. Review what's available and download the content that PinSave has retrieved for that specific Pin.

How to Download Pinterest Stories on Android

  1. Open the Story in the Pinterest app.

  2. Tap Share.

  3. Copy the link.

  4. Open PinSave in Chrome.

  5. Open the Story Downloader.

  6. Paste the link.

  7. Download the available Story content.

  8. Check your Downloads or Files app.

How to Download Pinterest Stories on iPhone

  1. Open the Story in the Pinterest app.

  2. Tap Share.

  3. Copy the link.

  4. Open PinSave in Safari.

  5. Open the Story Downloader.

  6. Paste the link.

  7. Download the available Story content.

  8. Check the Files app.

Not every download automatically appears in your Photos library β€” depending on the file type, it may only be saved to Files.

How to Download Pinterest Stories on a Computer

  1. Open the individual Story on Pinterest.

  2. Copy its link.

  3. Open PinSave's Pinterest Story Downloader.

  4. Paste the link.

  5. Download the available content.

  6. Check your browser's Downloads folder.

Can You Download All the Slides in a Pinterest Story?

This depends on the Story and on what PinSave currently supports.

As of this PinSave implementation, the Story Downloader can process multi-slide Story content with up to four cards. When a Story falls within that range and its media is available, you can download the cards PinSave identifies for it.

This isn't a guarantee that every Story β€” or every card inside it β€” will be available in every case. A Story with more slides than PinSave currently supports, or with a card type PinSave doesn't recognize, may not have all of its content available to download. If a card in the Story is a photo, the result is similar to what the Pinterest Image Downloader handles for single-image Pins; if a card contains a looping animation, it's closer to what the Pinterest GIF Downloader is built for.

The exact location can vary depending on your device, browser settings, and the type of file PinSave returns for that Story.

Why Isn't My Pinterest Story Downloading?

A few common causes account for most failed Story downloads:

  • an incorrect or incomplete Story URL

  • a Story that's no longer available

  • deleted content

  • private or restricted content

  • unsupported or unrecognized media

  • a temporary browser issue

  • a temporary processing issue on PinSave's side

  • the download actually completed, but the file wasn't where you expected

Quick checklist:

  1. Open the original Story again to confirm it still exists.

  2. Confirm it's publicly accessible, not private or restricted.

  3. Copy the link again in case the first copy was incomplete.

  4. Try PinSave again with the freshly copied link.

  5. Check your Downloads or Files app before assuming it failed.

  6. If you have another public Story available, try that one to see if the issue is specific to one Pin.

If the problem persists across multiple public Stories, report the issue so it can be looked into.

Pinterest Story vs Pinterest Video

A Story can contain different types of media across its cards β€” photos, clips, or a mix of both β€” while a video Pin is centered on a single video. Which downloader to use depends on the type of Pinterest content you're working with: a standalone video Pin is better suited to the Pinterest Video Downloader, while multi-slide content belongs with the Story Downloader.

Can I Download Pinterest Stories Without an App?

Yes. PinSave's Story Downloader works directly through a browser β€” Chrome or Samsung Internet on Android, Safari on iPhone, and Edge, Chrome, or Firefox on desktop. There's no dedicated app to install.

Copyright and Responsible Use

Downloading a Story's content does not automatically transfer ownership or grant permission to republish, redistribute, modify, or commercially use it. Always respect creator rights, Pinterest's own rules, and applicable laws when saving and reusing Pinterest media. For more detail, see our Copyright guidelines.
